Dr. Wanlan Xiao
I have been practicing dentistry since 2005 and truly love my profession. I have found my passion in family, cosmetic, and sedation dentistry, which allows me to diagnose and treat the root causes of oral health issues and create a smile which epitomizes the beauty in each individual.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of the Pacific in Stockton with a minor in Chinese Language. I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and have been practicing quality family and cosmetic dentistry in the greater Bay Area.
I am proficient in a wide range of state-of-the-art dental procedures and techniques and committed to pursuing continuing education at the highest level. I am also a member of numerous prestigious organizations including the American Dental Association and the California Dental Association.
One of my passions in life is charity. I was president of my dental school's community outreach project. I have also been a dental provider every year for the Give Kids A Smile program in the Bay Area. I have provided free dental care to over 500 kids from Richmond to Santa Rosa to Livermore. I am also an active member of Alliance For Smiles, a non-profit organization dedicated to repairing broken smiles of children affected by cleft lip and cleft palate in under-served areas of the world. In September 2008, I provided over $50,000 of free dental treatment to children and adults in Harbin, China during my Alliance For Smiles mission. I worked alongside plastic surgeons to give cleft children and adults a brand new smile. In April 2013, I traveled to Bataan, Philippines with the University of the Pacific Dental School to provide care to the under served local population.
I am a Livermore valley native! I briefly left the Bay Area to pursue my education in Southern California and graduated from West Coast University with a Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene. I am passionate about dental hygiene and enjoy furthering my education within the dental field, specifically related to the prevention of oral diseases. Like 80% of the population, I have a fear of being at the dentist so I strive to keep the patient's dental experience as relaxing as possible. In my spare time I enjoy cooking gluten free goodies, going to the beach, and obsessing over elephants.
Growing up I had always wanted a career where I could help people or animals. My out-going, people-person personality, and attention to detail led me to the path of dental hygiene. I received my degree from the University of Hawai`i at Manoa in 2010 and began practicing in Southern California before moving to the Bay Area in late 2013. My experience includes working with pedodontics (children), periodontics (gum disease), endodontics (root canals), and general dentistry. I am thorough and a bit of a perfectionist but that is only because I genuinely care about my patients and their oral health. I believe that education is the best tool we can use. Nothing gets me more excited than to have a returning patient tell me they are taking better care of their teeth and gums and noticing the difference it has made. That makes my whole month!
Born and raised on the island of Maui I enjoy going back to my island home as much as possible. When on Maui you can find me at the beach, spending time with family and friends, or eating the foods that cannot be found in California.
Vader is a Maltese-Poodle mix who loves laps and treats. He is eager to sit on your lap during your dental appointment, with your permission of course! He is calm and loves kids. He does not shed and has a great calming effect on patients.
